In December 2011, HGD and EVL Founders and Board Members Dr. Schiller Desgrottes and Maryse Desgrottes traveled to Petit Goave, Haiti to attend the EVL Holiday party and toy distribution! We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters and partners past and present for all their continued donations.

We would also like to thank all of our attendees and supporters at the HGDF Fundraiser Event; your generous donations have provided opportunities for students to continue to attend school, and without your help this would not be possible!

We would like to especially thank Father Pierre Andre Duvert, HGDF Board Member for his generous donation of toys for our students!

We would like to also thank Andre Danek and Nathaly Lopez, two outstanding artists who performed at our December 2011 fundraiser event and touched our hearts with their amazing voices!

And lastly, we’d like to thank Diane Wolkstien for her contribution of her CD’s entititled “The Magic Orange Tree” and other Haitian Folktales.

We wish all of you a healthy and prosperous 2012 and look forward to working with all of you in the new year.

UCLA Trip to HGD Medical Center- Petit Goave, Haiti

The UCLA Team lead by Dr. David Cutler volunteered for one week at the HGD Medical Center to provide care to patients but to also take the opportunity to teach and exchange ideas with the HGD medical staff.

The HGD Medical Center would like to thank Dr. David Cutler, Dr. Peter Katona, Mary Bugbee Cutler and Jean Bugbee for dedicating their time and efforts to working at the medical center and also creating teaching opportunities with the staff! We’d like to especially thank Elizabeth Tinglof for accompanying the team and capturing amazing moments on photograph! Thank You!

Happy New Year 2011 to all of our supporters and volunteers!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our supporters for their commitment to the HGD Foundation and Ecole Village Lucina ! We would like to first thank both The Canaan Ridge School of Connecticut and the C.O.O.L School of Malibu California, for their tremendous contribution and efforts in supporting EVL. With their help, students have received school uniforms and school supplies for the 2010 scholastic year and also summer of 2011!

We would also like to thank International Medical Health Organization for supporting our efforts in shipping an Ambulance for HGD Medical Center-with their support, we have been able to provide the people of Petit Goave with medical emergency care and transport.

HGD thanks Peter Schweitzer and Robert Reifel of Plenty.org for their generous contribution in supporting the purchase and shipping of the ambulance to Haiti, which has been able to provide the people of Petit Goave the emergency care they need.

Lastly, we’d like to thank Ms. Dorothy Katona of California for her kind donation of vitamins and nutritional supplements to the HGD Medical Center!

HGD Medical Center has partnered with:

Medicos del Mundo or Medecins du Monde Spain to provide a Cholera Treatment Center (CTC), which is the only CTC in Petit Goave, providing 24 hour care for cholera victims.

Samaritan Purse, has been providing prenatal classes for 30 women, 4 days a week- focusing on nutrition and health.

PROFAMIL has partnered with HGDF, to provide training of HGD staff and supplies for family planning, including contraception and family planning counseling.

Japan Platform and ICA Japan has started construction of a new permanent school, which is currently being constructed. Japanese architects who specialize in designing anti seismic structures, visited Haiti to oversee the designing and plan. With their input and approval, the school is scheduled to be finished February 2011!

1 Month Supply of Rice and Beans and Oil for 25 Displaced Families!

The HGD Center has collaborated with The Institute of Cultural Affairs in Japan. With ICA we have distributed rice, beans and oil to the 25 families that live on the health center premises of the HGD Center. We have now acquired flashlights to distribute to the 25 families. We will continue to work and collaborate with ICA in the near future!

The Dr. HGD Center has been working very hard, giving excellent care to the people of Petit Goave. In the last several weeks, the HGD Center has worked with Dr. John Bentwood, a surgeon from New Hampshire. Dr. John spent 2 weeks at the center seeing patients and also set up a small procedure unit at the Center.

More recently, The HGD Center has collaborated with The Floating Doctors, an NGO based in California. The Floating Doctors arrived almost 2 weeks ago bringing with them on shore supplies donated by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Courtney of the Courtney Group, a contracting company based in upstate New York; as well as supplies donated by Ms. Janet Larsen of New Hampshire and The Interfaith Medical Center of New York. In the last two weeks with the collaboration of the “Floating Doctors”, the new construction of the Ecole Village Lucina has already began, patients have been seen by Dr. Ben LaBrot both at the clinic and in the outskirts of Petit Goave during Mobile Clinic;the students have also been seen by Rachel, a dental hygienist.

The Dr. Henri Gerard Desgranges Foundation, Inc. has recently collaborated with Interfaith Medical Center to provide medical care, psychological care, and assistance to the people of Petit Goave, Haiti. On March 3^rd, 2010 a team of medical professionals, psychologists, and educators led by Dr. Schilller Desgrottes, the Secretary/Treasurer of the Foundation arrived in Petit Goave.

The Interfaith Medical Team worked in collaboration with the medical staff of the Dr. HGD Medical Center. The two teams quickly began working together and seeing patients. The medical teams worked tirelessly seeing on average 200 patients per day. The Interfaith medical team comprised of surgeons, pediatricians, psychologists and nurses; Dr. Thav Thambi from Ohio, is a transplant surgeon, who was able to conduct surgical procedures via the Dr. HGD Foundation at Notre Dame Hospital. Ms. Raygine DiAquoi, a Phd candidate from Harvard University, studying culture , communities and education was on hand to work with the children in Petit Goave devastated by the earth quake.

The Dr. Henri Gerard Desgranges Foundation has been giving service to the people of Petit Goave since 1995, in the aftermath of the earthquake, the Health Center has collaborated with Doctors Without Borders, Interfaith Medical Center and more recently Doctors of the World.
